Introducing our newest Halifax counsellor, Jubanti! 🙂
Jubanti is a Registered Social Worker with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. Leveraging a strong foundation in Adult Education, Leadership, and Community Development, she brings over 15 years of diverse professional experiences which includes therapeutic and counselling work. Her approaches are grounded in using a person-centred, holistic, trauma-informed, healing-centered, relational, and strength-based approach that emphasizes on nurturing the innate strengths and resiliency inherent in every person, complemented by their environments. Guided by her core human values of love, kindness, compassion, patience, humility, and forgiveness, she strives to bring out the best in every person and groups she works with. Her work particularly focuses on supporting individuals living with various mental illnesses including anxiety, depression, bi-polar, and schizoaffective disorder; as well as individuals experiencing various life challenges such as trauma, grief, moral and marital distress, and divorce. She works with all age groups spanning diverse cultural backgrounds, ethnicities, religions, gender identities, abilities, and sexual orientations.
Jubanti is trained in Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy, Dialectal Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). She uses a healing-centered engagement, active listening, reflective practice, transformative learning, and mindfulness practice to support individuals from all walks of life. Her support extends especially to those who have experienced trauma due to oppression, moral injury, and psychological harm including survivors of gender-based violence and sexualized violence aiming to contribute to achieving equity for women and all genders.
Jubanti’s career spans various sectors, including non-profit, government, and private sector, both in Canada and internationally. She holds a Master of Social Work from Mumbai University and a Master of Adult Education from St. Francis Xavier University (STFX). Committed to life-long learning, she also holds a Diploma in Development Leadership from the Coady International Institute, STFX, and a certification in Change Management from Harvard University, Cambridge, MA. With a wealth of experience, she remains dedicated to making a positive impact on the well-being of individuals, groups, and communities.
